First of all, thanks to everyone for making our Viking visitors so welcome, if you were not down at the club you missed a fantastic weekend. For a few pictures, and also a link to a video of various sailing and longboat rowing clips, click on the picture. We are already having conversations about a follow up visit later in the year, so watch this space.
Onto upcoming events.
Don’t forget the Easter Regatta is open to all, first race Sunday at 11.30am
Open Day – 1st May
This is our biggest recruitment day of the year, so please get sharing on Facebook, telling your friends, distributing leaflets etc. A strong and vibrant membership makes for a fab atmosphere and generates the funds to keep on developing the club. This year we will focus on investing in our boat fleet once we know how many new members have joined. If you have not responded to Ians pleas for help, please don’t wait to be asked and email him. We then have the follow up Push the Boat Out Taster day on 13th May, so we will need helpers on that day too.
A couple of Topper events to pop in the diary. A great opportunity for our Jybaz to develop their skills. On 29th April we have an open training day, for all Jybaz who want to sail Toppers, and on 6th May we have the Topper Open targeted at Toppers who would like to develop their racing – or other juniors who fancy borrowing a Topper and racing one.

In a new venture for the Club, Trish our President has gained a grant to run sailing for home schooled children. The idea was suggested by the Brickland family, and we will be holding a special taster session on Thursday 11th May followed by regular sessions for 6 weeks. We will need helpers who can spare time to help. For more details please click here.
New Boat Park
Thanks to Fred who has been doing a fantastic job sorting out the top boat park, I look forward to seeing the results this weekend.
Lastly good to see a steady flow of new members joining the club. I hope you have been made to feel welcome, if you have any questions then please contact me (Mark Jacot) by email and I’ll get you in touch with the right person to help. And please remember that word of mouth is our best way of finding new sailors!
