Rule Change – Honorary Officer

Change to Rules approved at Management Meeting 27th April 2017

The following change to the rules will take effect from 1st June 2017 Rule 10 Membership on associates currently reads:
Honorary Coxswains and Honorary Race officers shall be appointed by the Committee of Management to man the rescue boats or run races. They shall not be entitled to race nor keep a boat at the Club.

This is amended to:
Honorary Officials may be appointed by the Committee of Management to provide a service to Club. The roles include, but are not limited to, coxswains, race officers, sailing and power boat instructors. They shall not be entitled to race nor keep a boat at the Club.

Rationale
From time to time the Management Committee wishes to give Honorary Membership of the Club to a person who provides a service free of charge to the Club but who would not otherwise be a member of the Club. This avoids the problem of that person having to pay a membership simply to be, for example, a dinghy instructor or a coxswain. The new wording is intended to avoid having to make a rule change whenever we have a volunteer for a new activity.
