NOTE There may be slight alterations to the sailing formats in 2017 but these are subject to finding a new sailing secretary. If not, things are staying unchanged!

Here is an overview of the race formats

calendar summary

In the Spring we run an Endurance Series. Races take place on Sundays at 11.30, 13.30 and 15:15

From April we also run a Wednesday Evening pursuit race starting at 7.30 The first three races will start at 7pm. On Wednesdays, there is also a more informal sailing at 15:30 for those that would like to develop their skills or start racing.

The Main season starts late April. The First race of the day is at 11.30 and is a pursuit series. After lunch at 13.30 we have the main handicap race of the season (Folkes Series) where all boats start together. At 15.15 the final race of the day is the fleet series – where we will have starts for Fast Handicap Boats, followed by Solos, followed by Slow Handicap.

In the summer (June/July) we change the format slightly. In the mornings we hold Jybaz or Go Sailing sessions for novicies followed by racing in the afternoon.

In August/September we revert to a three race format.

The later part of the season sees an Autumn Leaves Series with starts at 11.30, 13.30 and 15.15

On some Sundays and weekends, one off open regattas are held with 3 races on each day. The Trophy day regatta is a bit different, with 5 races in one day – more chance to practice starting!

Duties

It is important (and a condition of membership) for the successful running of the club that everyone does their share of duties. Please use the Dutyman system to accept or change your duties. Duties are normally published during January.
