Commodores Cogitations #35

santa-and-reindeersWell after a fantastic night at the Annual Dinner with great live music during the meal and an excellent disco (see the facebook site for some video)  afterwards, the socials are not finished and done with. 12th Dec sees the Annual Jybaz Christmas Party, with Santa making an appearance in his world famous (well Rudyard famous anyway) grotto. A full Turkey dinner will be provided. You do not have to be a Jybaz to attend,  the event is open to all members. So why not come down and see how the younger side of the club has a good time. More details here. On the subject of facebook, congratulations to Ian Rawlinson who is the 200th person to like our site. (PS You and Bruce feature in the video!!!!)

committee1._1The following day is the AGM. We have a packed agenda and new roles to fill. We will publish reports in advance, in the meantime you can find out more details here. ***STOP PRESS**** We will be laying on free supper after the AGM so please stay afterwards and join us for food and drinks. You should have received agenda and membership renewal details in the post by this weekend. If you don’t get these, please email me mark@jacot.co.uk. The agenda is all on the website anyway. Please renew your membership sooner rather than later, otherwise Jane the membership secretary starts biting her nails and the treasurer starts to get a bit twitchy. The earlier the better please! You can download the form here RENEWAL Form 2016.

We are still looking for a  Sailing Secretary for 2016. Contrary to popular belief you DO NOT need to be an avid racer to fill this role. Its more about organisation and getting other people to do things. Don’t worry about sailing results, they are all done by someone else. And there are plenty of expert sailors on the committee. Given our objective for 2016 include getting more novices involved in sailing, you could have a chance to make a difference to this important part of our development. The role does include

  • Organising sailing committee meetings
  • Making sure the class captains sort out open events
  • Organising someone to get the club enterprise to Southport and entering us in the 24 hour race
  • Organising a stock of wine and chocolates for prizes.
  • Sorting out the trophies at the end of the year (probably the biggest event)

If you think you could help with this, please talk to myself or Paul Gimson.

Lastly – thank you to everyone who completed the membership survey, here is a summary of the results. And don’t forget we are still sailing on Sundays right up to and including 13th December. It can be a bit cold, but the lake is filling up again and we are getting some good winds.
